Most of the time, notifications for Ayyam are turned off in your phone’s own settings, or something in Ayyam’s settings is keeping them quiet. Check both.
Check your phone’s settings
Ayyam asks to send you notifications a few seconds after you first open it. If you said no then, it can’t ask again, and only your phone’s settings can turn them back on.
- iPhone: open your phone’s Settings, tap Ayyam, tap Notifications, and turn on Allow Notifications.
- Android: open your phone’s Settings, go to Apps, then Ayyam, then Notifications, and turn them on. The names differ a little between phones.
Check that Do Not Disturb, or a Focus on iPhone, isn’t on either.
Check Ayyam’s settings
Open Settings → Notifications in the app.
- Pause all may be on. The line under it says until when.
- Quiet hours may be running. The line under Pause all says Quiet hours run and the times.
- The kind you’re missing may be switched off.
If only one person’s messages are missing, their chat may be muted. See How do I stop notifications for one person’s messages?
Other reasons
- Lots of likes on the same post within ten minutes make one alert, and the rest arrive quietly. The same goes for your sound being used again on the same day.
- Ayyam sends to the three phones you’ve used most recently. If you’re signed in on more, the one you’ve used least goes quiet.
- Signing out stops notifications on that phone. With One device at a time on, in Settings → Security, signing in on another phone signs this one out.
- Nothing comes from people you’ve blocked, or for comments your Hidden words catch.
Still nothing
Sign out of the app and sign in again. Signing in registers your phone for notifications again.
