The bar at the bottom of the app has five icons and no names under them. From left to right they’re Home, Videos, Create, Stories and Search. Your profile, settings, messages and notifications aren’t in the bar. They’re at the top of Home.
Home
Posts from people you follow, and posts picked for you.
- For you and Following at the top switch between posts picked for you and posts from people you follow.
- The row of cards under them holds stories from people you follow. To add your own, tap Create story at the start of the row.
- Your profile picture at the top left opens Settings, with your profile at the top. Tap the card to see your profile the way others do, or tap Edit profile.
- The speech bubble at the top right opens your messages, and the bell opens your notifications. A number on them counts what’s new.
Videos
Full-screen videos, one at a time. Swipe up for the next one. For you and Following work the same way as on Home, and the search bar at the top opens Search.
Create
This makes a new post. Along the bottom you choose where the photos and videos come from: LIBRARY for the photos on your phone, CAMERA to take new ones, and UPLOADS for ones you’ve already posted on Ayyam.
The bar at the bottom hides while you’re making a post. Tap Cancel to leave.
Stories
Stories, one card at a time, in two decks.
- Universe has stories from people you don’t follow. Swipe right to like one, or left to pass.
- Followers has a card for each person you follow who has a story up.

What’s the difference between Followers and Universe in Stories?
Search
Find accounts, posts, videos, hashtags, places and sounds. Before you type, it shows today’s topics along the top, popular hashtags and a grid of posts.
After you search, the tabs across the top sort the results: Top, Accounts, Posts, Videos, Tags, Places and Audio.
