All you need is your name, an email address or phone number, and a password. Before the account is made, we send a 6-digit code to that address or number to check it’s yours. Nothing is created until you enter it.

Create your account

Create an account in the app

  1. On the sign-in screen, tap Sign Up at the bottom.
  2. Enter your name in Full Name.
  3. Enter your email address or phone number in Email or phone number. For a number, check the country at the start of the field.
  4. Choose a password of at least 8 characters and tap Sign Up.
  5. Enter the code and tap Verify & Continue. An email address gets it by email, a phone number on WhatsApp.

Your account is made and Home opens. Typed the address or number wrong? Tap Use a different email or Use a different number under the code boxes.

Create an account on the website

  1. Go to ayyam.com and click Create account.
  2. Fill in Full name, Username, Email and Password, then click Create account.
  3. Enter the 6-digit code from the email and click Verify.
  4. Pick at least 3 topics to follow, or click Skip for now. Posts about the topics you pick show up in your feed.

The website only signs you up with an email address. To use a phone number, sign up in the app.

Your username

The app doesn’t ask for one. It takes the start of your email address and adds 4 random letters and numbers, like sara_k3f9. Sign up with a phone number and it’s made from your name instead, or starts with user_ if your name isn’t in Latin letters.

You can change it later. Tap your profile picture at the top of Home, then Edit profile.

On the website you choose it yourself: 3 to 30 characters, using lowercase letters a to z, numbers and _.

How do I change my username?

If the code doesn’t come

  • Codes usually arrive within a minute. Check your spam folder, and check the address or number on the code screen.
  • You can ask for a new code once a minute, when the countdown ends.
  • If the email address already has an Ayyam account, we don’t send a code. We email that address to say it already has an account. Sign in instead, or reset your password if you’ve forgotten it.
  • If the phone number already has an account, nothing is sent at all. Sign in with it instead.
