You can change your username as often as you like, as long as nobody else has the one you want. Your profile link changes with it. Your old username is held for 60 days, so nobody can pick it up and pretend to be you.

Change your username

Change your username in the app

  1. On Home, tap your profile picture at the top left, then tap Edit profile.
  2. Tap Username.
  3. Type the new username and tap Save.

If it can’t be used, the reason shows under the field, and what you typed stays there for you to fix.

Change your username on the website

  1. On ayyam.com, open your profile and click Edit profile.
  2. Click Change next to your username, type the new one and click Done.
  3. Click Save changes.

A username uses English letters, numbers and _ only, from 3 to 30 characters. Capital letters are saved as small ones.

What changes when you rename

  • Your profile link becomes ayyam.com/@ and your new username. Links with the old one stop opening your profile.
  • People find you in search by the new username, not the old one.
  • Someone who types your old username in a mention won’t reach you.
  • Your followers, posts and messages stay exactly as they were.

Warning: For 60 days your old username is held, and nobody can take it. That includes you, so you can’t switch back until then.

Tip: Tell people your new username, especially anyone who saved your old profile link.
