Search in the app
- Tap Search, the last tab in the bar at the bottom.
- Tap the bar that says Search people, tags, places and type.
- Tap a suggestion: an account, a hashtag or a place. Or tap the first row, Search everything.
- Use the tabs to sort the results: Top, Accounts, Posts, Videos, Tags, Places and Audio.
Results start from two letters. Places need three.
Search on the website
- On ayyam.com, click the search box, or press Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac). The search window opens.
- Type what you’re looking for.
- Pick All, People, Posts, Videos, Hashtags, Places or Sounds along the top, then click a result. The Tab key moves between them.
Places need three letters under All, and two under Places.
What search finds
- Accounts by name or username, from the first few letters, even with a small typo.
- Posts by what they’re about, not only by the exact words in the caption.
- Hashtags, places and sounds by name.
You only see posts you’re allowed to see. Someone who has blocked you doesn’t show up. People you’ve blocked still do, so you can find them to unblock them.
Good to know
- Your recent searches show under Recent when you tap the bar.
- Before you type, the Search tab shows Explore: topics, popular hashtags and a grid of posts.
