Codes usually arrive within a minute. Where yours goes depends on what you typed: an email address gets it by email, and a phone number gets it on WhatsApp. It’s never sent to the other one.

First, check where it went

The screen shows the email address or number the code went to. Read it carefully. A typo there is the most common reason a code never shows up.

  • Email: look in spam, junk and promotions folders, not just your inbox.
  • WhatsApp: the number needs WhatsApp on it, and the country in front of the number has to be right. The code comes as a WhatsApp message, not a text message.

Ask for another code

You can ask again once a minute. On the code screen, wait for the countdown to finish, then tap Resend (or Resend code when you’re resetting your password).

  • Each new code replaces the last one. Use the newest.
  • A code works for 10 minutes.
  • You can get up to 5 codes an hour for the same email address or number. After that, A code was just sent. Wait a minute before asking for another. can last up to an hour, even though it says a minute.

Resetting a password and nothing arrives

The reset screen says a code is on its way even when no account matches what you typed. We do this so nobody can use it to find out who has an Ayyam account. It also means a missing code can simply mean your account is under a different email or number. Try the other one you might have used.

If your email address stopped accepting our messages, we can’t send codes to it at all. Reset with your phone number instead.

Codes that are never sent

If you turned on two-factor authentication, the code at sign-in comes from your authenticator app on your phone. Nothing is sent, so there’s nothing to wait for. Open the app and type the code it shows. If you can’t get into it, see I can’t get into my authenticator app.
