Open their profile, tap Requested, then tap Cancel request. The request leaves their list and your button goes back to Follow.

Cancel a request in the app
- Open their profile.
- Tap Requested.
- Tap Cancel request.
Your own Following list also has the requests you’ve sent, each with Requested next to it. Tapping it there asks Cancel follow request? first.
Cancel a request on the website
- Open their profile.
- Click Requested. The website asks Cancel follow request?
- Click Cancel request.
You can do the same from your Following list. Open your profile, click Following, and click Requested next to the person.
Good to know
- They aren’t told you cancelled. They may still have the notification from when you asked, but the request itself is gone.
- You can send a new request whenever you like.
- Requests you’ve sent show in your Following list, but the Following number on your profile only counts people who accepted.
