Follow someone
Follow someone in the app
- Open their profile. Tap their name on one of their posts, or find them in Search.
- Tap Follow. If they already follow you, the button says Follow back.
You don’t have to open the profile every time. Follow also sits next to people’s names on posts in Home, on videos in Videos, in search results, and in lists of followers and of who reacted.
Follow someone on the website
- Open their profile on ayyam.com.
- Click Follow.
Lists of people on the website, like someone’s followers, have a Follow button on each row too.
When the account is private
- The button changes to Requested, and they get a notification that you asked. On the website, it says Follow request sent.
- Their posts and stories stay hidden until they confirm. When they do, you get a notification saying they accepted your follow request.
- If they delete your request, nobody tells you. Their profile shows Follow again, and you can ask again.
Changed your mind before they answer? You can take the request back.
Good to know
- A public account’s owner gets a notification straight away, unless they’ve turned follower notifications off.
- Follows you on someone’s profile picture means they already follow you.
- You can follow up to 5,000 accounts. Past that, the app says You can follow up to 5,000 accounts. Unfollow someone to follow someone new. The website only says Could not update that follow.
- You can’t follow someone you’ve blocked, or someone who has blocked you.
