Follow requests come in when your account is private. Open your profile and tap Requests, then tap Confirm to let someone follow you, or ✕ to delete their request. They aren’t told when you delete one.

Answer a request

Answer follow requests in the app

  1. Open your profile and tap Requests. Tapping the notification that says someone requested to follow you opens the same screen.
  2. Under Follow requests, tap Confirm next to the person, or ✕ to delete the request.

Confirm all accepts every request at once. The screen shows three to start with, and See all opens the rest.

Answer follow requests on the website

  1. Click Activity in the menu. While requests are waiting, a Follow requests card sits above your notifications.
  2. Click the card, then Confirm or Delete next to each person.

See all requests opens the full list, with Confirm all at the top.

What happens next

  • When you confirm, they become a follower straight away and can see your posts and stories. They get a notification that you accepted.
  • When you delete a request, it just goes. Nobody is told, and their button goes back to Follow.
  • Someone whose request you deleted can ask again. To stop that for good, block them.

Good to know

  • A request waits until you answer it. It doesn’t run out.
  • Making your account public with requests waiting asks Accept your follow requests? Accept all lets everyone waiting follow you. Keep them leaves the requests under Requests, to confirm or delete one by one.
  • The same screen in the app also has Message requests: chats from people you don’t follow, waiting for you to accept them. See What are message requests?
