The people we suggest are accounts that are doing well on Ayyam this week. Every night we pick up to 20 public accounts that many different people followed, liked or commented on in the past week, in your language. We don’t look through your phone’s contacts to find them.
Where you see them
- On the website, under People to follow beside your feed on Home, when the window is wide enough. In the feed itself, the same people show up after the third post under People you might know.
- In the app, on the Search tab, before you type anything.
On the website, the line under each name says why they’re there: how many of the people you follow also follow them, how many followers they gained this week, or how many followers they have. The app shows how many followers they have.
How someone gets on the list
- At least 5 different people followed, liked or commented on them in the past week. One fan who likes fifty of their posts counts once.
- They posted something public in the last 30 days.
- Their account is public, has a profile picture and isn’t banned.
- At least a quarter of the people who reacted to them use Ayyam in your language. There’s an Arabic list and an English one, and you get the one for the language you use Ayyam in.
Big accounts don’t win just for being big. The same week counts for more on an account with a few hundred followers than on one with thousands, so accounts that are growing get a chance too.
Who you won’t see
- Yourself, and anyone you follow or asked to follow. Follow someone and they leave your suggestions straight away.
- Anyone you blocked or who blocked you, and anyone you hid from your feed.
- An account that 5 or more people blocked or hid that week.
When a week is quiet, the people from last week’s list who still qualify stay on it.
On the website, Remove takes a person out of the People you might know row until you reload the page.
