Open your story, tap the bar at the bottom, then tap the bin and confirm. The story disappears for everyone right away, along with who watched it and its replies and reactions.
Delete a story
- On Home, tap Your story, the first card in the stories row.
- Tap the right side of the screen to reach the story you want to delete.
- Tap the bar at the bottom, with the number of viewers.
- Tap the bin at the end of the row at the foot of the sheet.
- The app asks Are you sure you want to delete this story? Tap Delete.
What goes with it
- The story, from Home, the Stories tab and Universe.
- Who watched it, its public replies and its reactions.
- Its place on your profile, if you pinned it.
The photo or video stays in your Uploads. Once the story is gone, you can delete it from there too.
Private replies stay in your chats, since they’re messages. The story above them then says Story no longer available.
Good to know
- There’s no way to get a deleted story back.
- A pinned story more than 24 hours old is only on your profile. Open it there and delete it the same way: that takes it off your profile.
- The website can’t delete stories. Use the app.
- You don’t have to delete a story to make it go: it disappears by itself after 24 hours.
