A circle is a group of your followers that you name yourself, like family or friends from the gym. When you post, you can pick a circle as the audience, and only the people in it see that post. Nobody is told they’re in a circle, and only you see its name.
How circles work
- Only people who follow you can be in one.
- You can have up to 10 circles, with up to 500 people in each.
- Someone you add sees the circle posts you share from then on. Posts you shared with the circle before they joined stay hidden from them.
- You can only tag people who are in the circle, and a circle post can’t be reposted or go to your story.
When people leave, or you remove them
- If someone stops following you, they stop seeing the circle’s posts. They stay in the circle, marked No longer follows you, until you remove them. If they follow you again, they see the posts again.
- Removing someone hides the circle’s posts from them. If you add them back later, they only see posts from after that.
- Blocking someone’s account takes them out of all your circles, and takes you out of theirs.
Deleting a circle
The posts you shared with it stay on your profile, but only you can see them. A new circle with the same name doesn’t bring them back.
Where your circles are
In the app, under Settings → Circles. The number next to Circles is how many you have. The website can post to a circle, but you make and change them in the app.
