Too many attempts. Try again in a few minutes. means someone, probably you, has tried a wrong password 10 times. To protect your account, we stop accepting sign-ins to it for a while.

How long it lasts

The pause ends 15 minutes after the last wrong try. Signing in during the pause won’t work, even with the right password, but it won’t make the pause any longer either.

The pause is on the account, not on your phone. Switching phones, apps or the website won’t get around it.

Get in straight away

You don’t have to wait. Reset your password with Forgot Password? on the sign-in screen. A successful reset ends the pause immediately, and you can sign in with the new password.

If you used Ayyam before the new app, this is almost certainly what happened: your old password doesn’t work here. See I used Ayyam before. How do I get back into my account?

What counts as a wrong try

  • A wrong password.
  • A wrong code from your authenticator app, or a wrong recovery code, if you use two-factor authentication.

Codes sent by email or WhatsApp have their own limit: after 5 wrong tries, that code stops working and you’ll see Too many wrong codes. Ask for a new one. That doesn’t pause your account. Ask for a new code and carry on.

If it wasn’t you

If you see this and didn’t try to sign in, someone may be guessing your password. Once you’re back in:

  • Change your password in Settings → Security → Password. That signs out every other device.
  • Check Where you’re logged in on the same screen, and end any session you don’t recognise.
  • Turn on Two-factor authentication so a password alone isn’t enough to get in.
