The first field on the app’s sign-in screen takes an email address or a phone number. Signing in with your number works like signing in with your email: the number, then your password.
- Type your phone number in Email or phone number.
- Check the country at the start of the field, shown as a flag and a calling code. Tap it to choose another country.
- Enter your password and tap Log In.
Signing in doesn’t send you a code. You only get a code on WhatsApp when you create an account with your number, or when you reset your password with it. If you turned on two-factor authentication, the app asks for a code from your authenticator app after your password. See How do I sign in when two-factor authentication is on?
How to type the number
- The way you dial it at home works, with or without the 0 at the start.
- You can also type it in full: + then the country code, then the number. The country disappears from the field because it’s no longer needed.
- We never guess your country. If the one shown is wrong, we look up a different number, and you’ll see That email or password is not right.
If it says the email or password isn’t right
- Check the country first.
- Your account may not have this number on it, for example if you joined with an email address. Sign in with your email, then add your number in Settings → Security → Phone number.
- If you used Ayyam before the new app, your old password won’t work. See I used Ayyam before. How do I get back into my account?
- If you’ve forgotten your password, see I forgot my password.
After 10 wrong passwords, signing in to your account is paused for 15 minutes. See It says “Too many attempts”.
