Split cuts a video into shots, so you can take a part out of the middle. Move to where you want to cut and tap Split here. Then tap a shot you don’t want and tap Remove shot. The shots you keep play one after another.
Split a video
- Open the video in the editor. It opens on Trim.
- Tap Split in the row of tools. The bar now shows the whole video.
- Drag along the bar to move to where you want to cut.
- Tap Split here. Do it again for every cut you want.
- Tap a shot you don’t want, then tap Remove shot. It stays on the bar, dimmed, so you can see what’s gone.
- Tap Next to carry on.
KEEPING shows how long the video will be, and the count at the end of the row says how many shots there are.
Cutting doesn’t remove anything by itself. You can cut as often as you like, then decide which shots go.
Good to know
- Each shot has to be at least half a second long, so Split here doesn’t work right next to another cut.
- The last shot can’t be removed. A video keeps at least one.
- A video can have up to 20 shots. At 20, Split here stops working.
- With a split, the whole original video counts toward the 10-minute limit, not just the shots you keep. For a long video, trim it instead.
- Dragging the bar on Trim afterwards replaces your shots with one trimmed part.
- The website can’t split videos.
