A video opens in the editor on Trim. Drag the two ends of the bar to choose the part you keep. KEEPING shows how long that part is, and the preview plays only that part, so you can check it.

Trim a video

  1. Pick one video and tap Next. If it’s one of several, tap its thumbnail on New post instead. It opens on Trim.
  2. Drag the start and the end of the bar. The times under it are the start, middle and end of the whole video.
  3. Tap play to watch the part you’re keeping.
  4. Tap Next for Clip settings, Next again for Text, then Done.

You don’t have to change anything on the other two screens. Tapping Next past them is fine.

Good to know

  • What you keep has to be at least 1 second long.
  • A video in a post can be up to 10 minutes, counting only what you keep.
  • To take out a part from the middle, use Split.
  • The editor copies the video out of your library before it can show it. A long video, or one kept in iCloud, can take a while to open.
  • A video you pick from Uploads can’t be edited. It goes straight to New post, and opening it in the editor says Clip 1 is already in your uploads, and an uploaded clip cannot be edited yet. Post it as it is, or pick the original from your library.
  • The website can’t trim. Shorten a video before you upload it there.
