Your report goes to Ayyam’s moderators, who decide what to do about it. When they have, you get a notification telling you whether they took action. The person you reported isn’t told who reported them.
Warning: If someone is in danger right now, call your local emergency number. A report isn’t the fastest way to get help.
What a moderator can do
- Leave it up, if it doesn’t break the rules.
- Remove the post, comment, story, message or sound.
- Mark a post as sensitive. It then shows behind a warning, and stays out of Explore and search, though it stays on the person’s profile and in their followers’ feeds.
- Ban the account. A banned account can’t sign in, and its posts disappear from Ayyam.
What you hear back
Once your report is decided, a notification says one of two things:
- We reviewed your report and took action. Thanks for telling us.
- We reviewed your report. What you reported doesn’t go against our community rules.
It never says who was reported or how many people reported them.
When something is hidden before anyone looks
For the most serious reasons, such as child safety, sexual content and violence, a post, comment or story is hidden once several people have reported it, until a moderator decides. If the moderator finds nothing wrong with it, it comes back.
Accounts are never hidden this way. A person always looks at an account.
If something of yours was removed
You get a notification that names what was removed and the rule it broke. To ask the moderators to look again:
Request a review in the app
- Open Settings and tap Account status. Each removal is listed with its rule.
- Tap Request a review on the one you want looked at again.
- Say why you think it was a mistake, if you like, and tap Send request.
Request a review on the website
- Open Settings on ayyam.com, click Support, then Open account status.
- Click Request a review on the one you want looked at again.
- Say why you think it was a mistake, if you like, and click Send request.
You can ask once for each decision, within 30 days, and the answer is final. If the moderators agree, they put it back and you’re told.
A suspended account can’t sign in. Trying shows Your account is suspended, with a link to ask for a review, and the answer comes by email.
Good to know
- Reports stay private. Nobody is told who reported them, or how many reports there were.
- You can send up to 20 reports a day.
- Reporting doesn’t hide the person from you. To stop seeing them now, block or mute them.
- If you think a moderator got a report wrong, write to us with a link to the post or account. At ayyam.com/support, choose A post or account that breaks the rules.
