In Settings → Security, tap Phone number. Type the number and your password, and we send a 6-digit code to it on WhatsApp. Once you enter the code, you can sign in with that number and use it to reset your password.
Add or change your number
- On Home, tap your profile picture at the top to open Settings, then tap Security.
- Tap Phone number. It says Not added if your account has none yet.
- Check the country at the start of the field, and tap it to choose another. Then type your number.
- Type your password in Your password and tap Next.
- Enter the code we sent to your WhatsApp, and tap Add phone number. If you’re replacing a number, the button says Change phone number.
The app says Phone number added and shows the number.
The number has to be on WhatsApp, because that’s where the code goes. You can type it the way you dial it at home, or in full with + and the country code.
If you signed up with Google or Apple
Your account has no password, so a code goes to your email address first to check it’s you. Enter it, and then the WhatsApp code comes.
What happens next
- The new number replaces the one you had. The old one no longer signs you in.
- Nobody is signed out.
- We email your account’s address to say the number was added or changed.
There’s no way to remove a number and leave the account without one. You can only replace it with another.
If the code doesn’t come
- Check the number and the country. Use a different number takes you back to fix them.
- Tap Send a new code to get another one. Wait a minute between codes, and use each one within 10 minutes.
- If the number is already on another Ayyam account, no code is sent to it.
Note: While your account is waiting to be deleted, the number can’t be changed. The app says Your account is being deleted. Cancel the deletion to change your phone number.
Phone numbers can only be added in the app. The website doesn’t have this yet.
