A video gets its sound in the editor: on Clip settings, tap Add music and pick one. Photos can have a sound too, but only when you start from the sound: open its page and tap Use this sound.
Add a sound to a video
- Pick one video and tap Next. It opens on Trim.
- Tap Next. Clip settings opens.
- Under SOUND, tap Add music. Sounds opens on Popular and Saved.
- Search, or scroll the list. The play button at the end of a row plays a bit of the sound.
- Tap a sound to use it.
- If the sound is longer than your video, move Starts at to choose the part that plays.
- Tap Next, then Done.
The sound replaces the video’s own sound: Original goes to 0 and Music to 100. To hear both, turn Original back up. To take the sound off, tap Remove.
To post a video with no sound at all, tap the speaker next to Original. How do I remove or replace a video’s sound? has more on the two sliders.
Add a sound to photos
- Open the sound’s page. On a video in Videos, tap the sound’s name.
- Tap Use this sound.
- Pick one or more photos and tap Next.
- On New post, the sound is under SOUND. Choose where it starts, or tap Remove.
- Tap Share post.
Finding a sound, and how it plays on your post, is in How do I use a sound from someone else’s video?
Good to know
- A post with a sound can be all photos, or one video. If you add a video to a post of photos, Share post stops working and says A sound goes on photos only. Remove the video or the sound.
- Some sounds show not available and can’t be picked.
- If the person who posted a sound doesn’t let others use it, you’ll see The author does not allow others to use this sound.
- Adding a sound isn’t possible on the website yet.
